Thyroid hemiagenesis is a rare anomaly characterized with the absence of one thyroid lobe due to a failure in embryologic development of the thyroid gland. This anomaly is more frequent in women. It usually affects left side of the thyroid. Isthmus may be detected in half of the cases.
